Precitubo was created in 1979, and began operations in 1982 manufacturing carbon and intermediate alloy steel tubes. Currently, the company has an installed capacity of 10,000 tons/year.
In August 1996 Precitubo was awarded the ISO-9002 certification for implementation of the quality system for carbon and low alloy steel tube manufacturing. It was one of the first companies to achieve this certification at a national level.
In November 1997 and to increase market share in mechanical and hydraulic tubes for the automotive industry, the company started operations of Plant II to manufacture welded tubes, using a rolling mill and high-frequency welding operation.
With exports exceeding 70% of the monthly production, Precitubo products are now recognized in the North American market and in other countries.
Currently, Precitubo forms part of Carso Infraestructura y Construcción (CICSA), which is owned in turn by Grupo CARSO.
